The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship or Euro 2012 has started this June.Poland and Ukraine are hosting the event between 8 June and 1st July 2012.This is the first time that either nation has hosted the tournament.The final tournament features 16 nations which the 16 finalists will participate in the tournament have been divided into four different groups.

Myanmar Thingyan or Water festival
Myanmar Thingyan or water festival is celebrated every year between April 13-16. It is the Myanmar new year according to the Buddhist calendar.Thingyan is also happening in other Theravada Buddhist areas of Southeast Asia such as Lao New Year, Cambodian New Year,Songkran in Thailand and Xihuangbanna(Shan or Dai in China) in China.Thingyan is the most joyous and special event for people of all ages.People splash water to each other or play water and make merits.

Thingyan is a Buddhist festival celebrated over a period of four to five days culminating in the new year. Formerly the dates of the Thingyan festival are calculated according to the traditional Burma lunisolar calendar and but now have fixed Roman calendar ( 13 to 16 April) equivalent it often coincides with Easter.More

Miss Myanmar International 2012

Miss Myanmar International 2012

Miss Myanmar 2012 Pageant competition was held on March 25,2012 at Myanmar Convention Center(MCC) in Yangon.The even was organized by Myanmar Travel Services Co.Ltd under Myanmar Tourism Board(MTB).Miss Myanmar International crown was won by Nan Khin Zayar(No.15).The 1st Runner-up was Ms.Swan Yay Tun(No.18) and the 2nd Runner-up was Ms.Aye Chan Moe(No.16).Miss.Myanmar International 2012 was assigned as a tourism ambassador of Myanmar.However, it has not been confirmed that she would go for international competition.

As for the prizes and awards, Miss Myanmar International received a cash prize of 3,000,000 Kyats plus a Yangon-Seoul round trip ticket by Vietnam Airlines and a pearl and diamond pendant presented by Revital.The 1st runner up was given a cash prize of 1,500,000 Kyats plus Yangon-Ho Chi Min round trip ticket by Vietnam Airlines.The 2nd runner up received a cash prize of 1,000,000 Kyats plus Yangon-Singapore round trip tickets by Myanmar Airways International(MAI).

The feedback is quite good to neighboring ASEAN countries and they are encouraging the true natural beauty with rich cultural presentation.

Other awarded titles include:

Miss CB Bank = Sein Lae Mon (Contestant Number 19)
Best Costume = Poe Kyar Phyu (Contestant Number 10)
Miss Photogenic = Poe Ei Phyu Zin (Contestant Number 8)
