Lil' Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter on September 24, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana and American. Grammy-nominated rapper and president of the Cash Money Records label and Young Money Entertainment. Lil' Wayne has recently gained much respect and critical acclaim for his lyrical rap flow maturation and unique rhyme scheme. Lil' Wayne claims to be the best rapper alive in his song titled Best Rapper Alive on his album Tha Carter II, beginning the chorus of this song by saying: "Who am I...the best rapper alive." Lil Wayne is also known as Birdman Jr., Young Tune, Weezy F. Baby, Weezy Fuckin Baby or Dwayne Carter (using the last name of his step father).

Meaning of the title

In the 1991 film New Jack City, "tha Carter" is the name of Nino Brown's efficient crackhouse. In relation to the album, "tha Carter" is interpreted as Lil Wayne's building, crackhouse, or castle as a physical symbol for Lil Wayne's dynasty. "Carter" is also, not coincidentially, Lil Wayne's last name. It should also be noted that "tha Carter" was released under the Cash Money Records label and Nino Brown and his clique in New Jack City was known as the CMB or Cash Money Brothers. This is the second (II) album in "tha Carter" series. Wayne has said that he plans to make five studio "tha Carter" albums.
