Spears, 25, is currently being treated at Promises in Malibu. A source familiar with the situation says Federline, 28, has been involved in her stay there. "He cares a lot about her," the source said.

Federline stopped by the facility on Friday and stayed about an hour and a half.

On Thursday, Spears's father, Jamie Spears, 54, told FOX News from his home in Louisiana that his daughter is "a sick little girl. ... We're just trying to take care of her."

He added that his daughter's problems are "not about what other people think" and that he and Spears's mom, Lynne, are "concerned about our daughter."

Broward County Family Court Judge Lawrence Korda said the Bahamas, where the former Playmate's 5-month-old daughter, Dannielynn, was born, was probably the proper venue for deciding who fathered the child and who should have custody.

The hearing came a day after the melodramatic end of televised hearings in which another judge handed over Smith's remains for burial to the court-appointed guardian of her baby. The guardian decided she should be buried in the Bahamas.

After just 21 weeks and six days in the womb, she was born in October weighing 283 grams [10 ounces] and measuring 24 centimeters [9 1/2 inches].

The day before her parents, Eddie and Sonja Taylor, took her home she was quite different.

In a new statement given to WFOR TV in Miami, Anna Nicole Smith's partner, Howard K. Stern, speaks out about personal items he says were stolen from Smith's house.


Earlier this week, The Tribune of Nassau published two photographs on its front page showing Smith frolicking in bed (fully clothed) with the Bahamian immigration minister, Shane Gibson, who approved her application for permanent residency. Stern says these photos were stolen.

While authorities were unable to identify an official cause of death, Broward County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper suggested that the death might be due to either natural causes, medication, or a combination of natural causes and medication.

Perper was able to rule out several speculated causes of death, such as blunt force trauma, gunshot wounds or asphyxia, meaning she did not suffocate to death on her own vomit.

An autopsy today on the body of Anna Nicole Smith, who died yesterday after collapsing in a Florida hotel room, didn't immediately reveal the cause and manner of her death, said Joshua Perper, the medical examiner of Broward County, Florida, in a televised news conference.

The autopsy ``revealed subtle findings in the heart and intestines,'' Perper said, without explaining what those findings were. There were no signs of physical injuries, such as blunt-force trauma or asphyxiation, which can be excluded as reasons for her death, he said.

Perper still has to review Smith's medical records after noting she had been suffering from the stomach flu for several days before her death. Tests could take three to five weeks, he said.

No illegal drugs were found in Smith's hotel room, Chief Charlie Tiger of the Seminole Police Department, which is investigating her death, said during the news conference.

Anna Nicole Smith's media-hyped journey of celebrity, marked by dubious successes and all-too-human tragedies, ended Thursday at a venue as colorful as her life when she collapsed at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and died at a Hollywood hospital.

Nearby residents and casino patrons said Smith, a former stripper turned Playboy playmate, diet maven, reality show star and prospective multi-millionaire, frequented the hotel on the Indian reservation and was known for partying loud and late.

Five months after the birth of her daughter and the death of her 20-year-old son, Smith, 39, was found unconscious around 1:39 p.m., when her private nurse called hotel staff for help, Seminole Tribe Police Chief Charlie Tiger said. At 1:45, Tiger said, a bodyguard started CPR in Smith's hotel room, No. 607.

Hollywood Fire-Rescue workers continued CPR, hooked Smith up to a heart monitor and took her to Memorial Regional Hospital around 2 p.m., rescue spokesman Matt Phillips said.

Counting On Diet Drug To Lose Weight Can Be Costly

Finally, the Food and Drug Administration accepted the one-year-old recommendation by its advisory committee and Wednesday approved orlistate as an over-the-counter (OTC) diet drug indicated for OVERWEIGHT adults age 18 or older to freely buy and use.

This TOC diet drug, to be sold under the trade name of Alli, has the same ingredient as the prescription diet drug xenical, which was approved in 1999. Both contain orlistat. Both are made by Roche Holding AG and marketed or to be marketed by GlaxoSmithKline PLC.


The difference is, Alli contains 60 mg orilistat per capsule and is indicated for overweight adults while xenical contains 120 mg per capsule and is for obese adults.

Celine Dion will unveil her new song, "I Knew I Loved You," during a tribute to Italian composer Ennio Morricone at this year's Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Wednesday.

Morricone, who will receive an honorary Oscar at the Feb. 25 awards, orchestrated the song for 1984's "Once Upon a Time in America," directed by Sergio Leone.
