Thursday's shocking news that former Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith had died suddenly after being found in her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, left many questions unanswered as to the cause of Smith's tragic death. On Friday, the Broward County medical examiner's office attempted to address the cause of death of Anna Nicole Smith as they began the grueling task of performing an autopsy on the exotic dancer turned Playboy centerfold turned reality TV star.After beginning the autopsy shortly after 9 a.m. local time, Dr. Joshua Perper, the medical examiner of Broward County, Florida, announced that preliminary findings from the autopsy have not immediately revealed the cause or manner of Anna Nicole Smith's tragic death. CNN quoted Dr. Joshua Perper as saying, "At this time, we do not have the results of the tests that would permit us to make this determination. Our findings are limited to what we can see with our eyes." According to Dr. Perper, the autopsy was able to rule out any type of physical injury as the cause of death, such as a gunshot wound, asphyxiation or blunt trauma. The autopsy revealed only "subtle findings" in the heart and gastrointestinal tract.
