Anne Hathaway has been named ‘Star of the year’ at the Hollywood magazine’s Breakthrough Awards in Los Angeles. She won the awards for her role as a naïve personal assistant in The Devil Wears Prada.
Other breakthrough award winners were Jessica Beil for The Illusionist and Jennifer Hudson for Dreamgirls.
“They must have got the wrong person; they must be kidding,” ContactMusic quoted a surprised Beil, as saying.
Jennifer Hudson took a dig at American Idol’s judge Simon Cowell and said, “Just go see the movie on Christmas Simon.”
She was a standout performer during the contest, but Hudson despite being among the semi-finalists in American Idol in 2004, was not voted into the finals. The controversy went overboard and previous guest judge Sir Elton John had said that the voting result was racist.>
