Christina Aguilera Kiss For Ryan seacrest

|

American Idol's Ryan Seacrest is hoping for a New Year's kiss from Christina Aguilera tonight.

The show's host is co-presenting Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2007 live from New York's Times Square, where Aguilera will be performing some of her hits.

"Last year I got lucky with Mariah Carey, so hopefully at that moment she's right there," he joked.

Asked whether Idol judge Simon Cowell will be watching the show, Seacrest replied: "He won't even turn it on because he can't stand to watch anything where he's not featured.

"It's true. So last year, he went to an island where they didn't get American television or cable, and I would imagine he's probably doing the same thing."

New York City is gearing up to usher in 2007 with a really wild party at Times Square, and helping them celebrate will be songstress Christina Aguilera.

Even as organisers get set to fill the sky above Times Square with balloons and confetti as the New Year rings in, NYPD helicopters will also be circling around to make sure that one of the most famous dos remains both fun and safe.

"We're almost ready except for the balloon inflations. Already, we can see that people are coming by Times Square to soak in the atmosphere," the New York Daily News quoted Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance, which hosts the bash, as saying.

As for who is hoping to get that kiss from Aguilera when the clock chimes 12 midnight, well that would be 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest who will co-host the live broadcast of ABC television's "New Year's Rockin' Eve" with icon Dick Clark.

"Last year I got lucky with Mariah [Carey], so hopefully at that moment [Aguilera's] right there," Seacrest said.

Nearly a million people are expected to cram the streets where the party will be taking place, with NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and 10 members of the U.S. armed forces, representing all five branches of the military, being there to lead the final countdown, the organizers revealed.

As for the music for the celebrations, the organisers have not only gotten together 11 musical acts - including Aguilera, soul singer Toni Braxton and rockers the All-American Rejects to perform before midnight.
