His Majesty the King will grant an audience to former US president George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara, who will visit Thailand as special envoys from Dec 10 to 12, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday.
Mr Bush had sought an audience with the King to extend good wishes on behalf of US President George W. Bush and US citizens on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the King's accession to the throne, ministry spokesman Kitti Wasinond said.
As guests of honour of the government, the former president and his wife would be accompanied by Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont to the Chakri Maha Prasart Throne Hall in the Grand Palace on Dec 11 at 7.30pm. His Majesty will then host dinner.
Mr Bush will be the third former US president to visit the kingdom this year.

Jimmy Carter last month visited Phuket where the Habitat for Humanity Jimmy Carter Work Project has provided housing for tsunami victims.
News of Mr Bush's visit to Thailand first surfaced during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Hanoi last month, which his son, George W. Bush, attended.
